Being that the drop-in fee at our school is at the low end, $35 sure seems high. From a marketing standpoint, if it's that high, they must have folks willing to pay it. I can't see why they would discourage drop-ins. That would just be bad business. I wonder if they have steady access to drop-ins from hotels/conventions, folks that are willing to pay. Just a thought.

I think your comments could help a lot of people. It is an honest statement.

Upon reflection, I have gone easy on some guys in class after tapping them. Which has led to being placed in positions I later regretted because they were after a revenge tap.

But I didn't lose sleep over it.

You're ahead of your time. For me, it is also about the journey. If we spend the rest of our life preparing for the rest of our life, we'll miss the journey along the way. Part of the rich reward that comes from our progress in Jiu-Jitsu is knowing what we had to go through to get there. You're not alone.

Hey, what's going on! Talk about a small world i was in your combatives class. At the end of class during the test portion we partner up togther. You are %100 correct that class was fantasic it opened my eyes to MMA. Since, it took me about 6 months to find a good school. Drop me a line!

I agree with you. A few of my students have come to me to ask for permission to train at another school. It has been either a issue of convenience or looking for a facility that also teaches MMA. I have never been one to be selfish about my students. We have to realize the world we live in these days. The reality is that students will come and go. Only a handful will stay for the long haul. The only issue I've ever had was when one of my white belt students went to another school for about two weeks while he was on vacation in another state. The instructor awarded him a blue belt on his last day there. Lucky for me, my student was smart enough to understand the complications this could have created, but it still created an unwanted situation.

I hand-washed my belt after I first got it, because it was so stiff that it tended to come loose very easily. I'm not too concerned about how faded it is or not, but the stiffness is annoying: seems to be a lot looser now, but still comes undone all the time. Can't remember my white belt doing that, but then I only washed that once or twice too.

However, I wash my gi after every session because I'm scared of staph etc (not to mention I doubt I'd be a popular sparring partner if I wore a skanky gi ;p). Same thinking should probably apply to my belt, but I haven't noticed that collect sweat in the same way. Still, something to keep an eye on. Or rather, nose.
